K9 FOR CONSERVATION

CHECK THIS OUT!

  • Do you want to make a real difference while having the time of your life?

  • Have dogs been your passion all your life?

  • Have you just finished schooling or perhaps are in need of a change and up for a challenge

THEN THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!

K9 For Conservation is an initiative to sponsor reserves in South Africa with trained dogs to protect our wildlife and our rangers in the bush that risk their lives on a daily basis. It has been proven that a reserve which has a dog is less attractive to poachers because the risks involved are significantly higher. In other words, the dogs will help make a huge difference and YOU can be a part of that difference!

PROJECT INFORMATION:

You are invited to join the team at Bronyx K9 Training College facility on a farm/ smallholding. Get down and dirty with all the dogs, and to learn the 'ins & outs' of training a dog for service such as Anti-Poaching, Patrol & Substance Detection. Please note that we are a private and commercial business and not an animal welfare organization or NPO. Successful applicants will experience the joy of meeting and greeting all our dogs and puppies, playing with them in the garden, going for walks on the farm/ smallholding, and washing, grooming & training their new best friends for their new jobs. We currently have 14 puppies/ young dogs ready to be trained/ being trained in substance detection, tracking and protection work right now! Some have already been booked for antipoaching units at local game reserves.

Volunteers also learn all about the boarding, administration, health and welfare management of all the pooches and the facility, which includes the cleaning of their living quarters, feeding & weight management, medicine administration, general maintenance and any and all that goes into maintaining, prepping, training and developing new service dogs for tracking, substance detection, patrol and anti-poaching. Activities on the farm/ smallholding for those staying there include grounds maintenance, vaccinating, dipping, de-worming, hoof trimming and shearing of the resident flock of sheep; starting &/or maintaining the vegetable patches; feeding the chickens; riding and grooming the horses and chilling by the pool.
